At SassyMac Schooling, our Foundation Phase curriculum builds the essential roots of literacy that allow every learner to thrive. Spanning Reception to Year 2 content over 18 months, our intent is to ensure that each child develops fluency, confidence, and a genuine love of learning.

About MiniMacs Foundation Programme

Our Foundation Phase programme builds the essential roots of reading and writing, for children working at Reception to Year 2 level. Delivered online by qualified UK teachers, it combines the trusted structure of Read Write Inc Phonics with SassyMac’s nurturing, family-centred approach. Children progress through two phonics levels — Sound Detectives (Phases 1–2, focusing on Set 1 sounds, oral blending, and early handwriting) and Word Builders (Phases 3–5, developing digraphs, spelling, comprehension, and fluency). Each child’s progress is carefully tracked through ongoing assessment, with recorded lessons available for flexible review and regular parent feedback. Spanning 18 months from January to July, this joyful and structured programme ensures every learner develops confidence, fluency, and curiosity—ready to transition smoothly into KS2.
