Autumn Term
We teach right up to the school Christmas holidays, then take a two-week break.
Spring Term
Lessons resume in the first week of January and run through to the Easter holidays. As key exams approach, we’ll continue to work through this period to stay on track.
Summer Term
We teach right up to the start of the summer holidays, then switch gears into our exciting Summer School program.
Level 1 (Ages 6–8)
At this level, we focus on building strong foundations in reading and writing. Children learn to read using phonics, recognise tricky words, and grow their confidence by reading fun stories and simple non-fiction texts. In writing, they begin putting sentences together, using capital letters, full stops, and spelling out familiar words. We also help them grow their vocabulary and enjoy talking about the stories they read.
Level 2 (Ages 9–11)
Here, children become much more confident readers and writers. They read longer, more challenging texts, learn to spot deeper meanings, and talk about characters, settings, and authors’ choices. In writing, they work on creating well-structured stories, reports, and persuasive pieces using paragraphs, proper punctuation, and more advanced grammar. They also get better at editing and improving their own work.
Level 3 (Ages 12–14)
At this stage, students dive into a wide range of texts—from novels and plays to poems and articles. They explore themes, compare ideas, and learn how to explain their thinking clearly. Writing becomes more detailed and thoughtful, whether it’s a story, an essay, or a piece of creative writing. We also encourage confident speaking and presentation skills through discussions and debates.
Level 4 (Ages 14–16, GCSE Preparation)
This level is all about getting ready for GCSE English. Students learn how to analyse unseen texts, write clear, focused answers, and explore set texts like Shakespeare, classic novels, and poetry. We also support them with creative writing and formal writing styles like letters and articles. Spoken English is also covered, helping them present ideas clearly and confidently in class and beyond.
